An Open Letter to MUFC Management

To,
The Management,
Manchester United Football Club,
Manchester, England.

Sub :- Suggestions from Frustrated fans.

Dear Mr. LVG & Mr. Ed Woodward,

This in in reference to the Bizarre activities that have recently been happening and  the Mediocre playmaking which has haunted United in recent years.

I have been following United since the time I started watching Football and in their Glorious era under Sir Alex Ferguson and watching the current proceedings at MUFC, I could no longer keep silent spectator and thought of coming up with a few Suggestions to the Management.

We, and I believe I am speaking on behalf of most of the MUFC Fans, have been patient with the happenings at the club and the erratic transfer activities which makes us appear to be fools running behind every damn player on the face of the earth and ending up with none of the targets and then finally have to suffice with a player like Martial.

MUFC have classically been a club where players have wanted to come and not a club everyone wants to reject even if we manage to attract them with the Exuberantly high wages we throw in to lure their interest.

As a fan I have a few suggestions which I believe might be of help. Please find them mentioned below.

Request you to Please consider the suggestions with seriousness as I resonate most of the frustrated fans.

To Mr. LVG.

Player Positions: Most of the attacking players are being played out of position

Juan Mata: Please play him as a free roaming No. 10 as that is his favored position and he is one of the best playmakers in the No. 10 area and has been proven to pick up some impossible passes when playing there and also score some amazing Goals. Also proven to be successful in the area as was the best Chelsea player for 2 consecutive years playing as a No.10

Ashley Young: He has been played out of position this season and has been totally ineffective on the right wing wherein his preferred position is the left wing. He also give you that added advantage of crossing when necessary.

So as a whole request you to play the players in their preferred positions to get the best out of them.

Formation and Line-ups: With the above mentioned point the starting line up is mentioned below

GK: De Gea

As we have managed to keep De Gea for another year (Best piece of Transfer Business in this Window). He should be given the much deserved start from now on.

LB: Shaw, Sub: Blind/Rojo

Shaw is one of the best LB in the country and has proven that in the 1st four games. Give him the opportunity to join the attack and go past the winger when need be to add an additional dimension of Threat. (Like the assist against Swansea).

CB: Smalling & Jones, Sub: Blind/Rojo/Mcnair

Smalling has stood up as a Leader in the Defence and deserves the position. Blind is a smart player with one of the best passing accuracy in the team but in central defence against more physical sides Jones would be a worthy adversary to Smalling.

RB: Darmian, Sub: Valencia

Darmian (A shrewd piece of business in the window) has slotted in effortlessly and made the RB position his own and deserves to be there.

Defensive Midfield: Schweinsteiger & Schneiderlin, Sub: Carrick/Hererra/Fellaini

Schweinsteiger & Schneiderlin have slotted in well and with an able deputy available in Carrick, this position is more or less settled with additional availability of Fellaini and Hererra gives additional options for selection.

LW: Ashley Young, Sub: Depay (Or Vice versa)

Ashley Young's resurgence since last season has been the one to watch and he deserves to retain his position on the left wing. Depay is still a raw talent and has just one aspect to his game which is to cut inside as soon as he gets the ball, most of the English teams have realised that and do not allow him to cut in, where as Ashley Young is unpredictable as he adds that extra ammunition of going on the outside and crossing if there is no opportunity to cut in. Also with Ashley Young on the left wing, Shaw gets that chance to join the attack and cause an additional threat. Either ask Memphis to add that dimension or play Ashley Young as the 1st choice.

RW: Martial, Sub: Valencia

Martial would be better off on the wing than as a whole out No. 9 Similar as that would solve our RW problems and add that extra pace and Flair on the RW which is currently lacking with Mata.
Valencia can be used on the wing as an option if Martial has to be shifted to an out and out striker when need be.

CAM: Mata, Sub: Fellaini, Hererra, Periera

Mata is one of the best No.10 in the game and and he can add the extra guile in the attack with incisive passes and the eye for goal. Having Fellaini adds that aerial threat in the latter halves of the game which would need the opposition teams to change the whole approach to the game and give us that advantage of unpredictability. Hererra is an able and versatile midfielder who can be used as a No.10 when need be. Periera is another option to add young blood into the game.

Striker: Rooney, Sub: Martial, Wilson

Though the current striking woes have costed us with just Rooney Martial and Wilson as available options. Rooney would always be the 1st choice as Martial could be used on the wing more often than as an out and out striker. Wilson is a Young talent and can be utilized as a substitute as fresh pair of legs.

Gameplay:

Please add that flair and threat of counter attack in MUFC's Gameplay which was classically what MUFC were known for and has been lacking since sometime now.

Possession Play is good but is of no use if it is not threatening to the opposition, we might keep more than 60% possession but still loose the game as in case of Swansea if we are not threatening in front of Goal.

In the Game against Swansea Everyone was trying to get into that 100% confirmed scoring position before shooting (As in case of Wayne Rooney's Penalty chance with Ashley Williams) and trying to pass just around the penalty area which lead to most of the attacks being broken by the opposition.
Allow Players to shoot even if there is a 10% chance of conversion which will add that advantage of number game as in, the more shots taken the more chances of conversion.

Memphis needs to add that additional Pace which he possessed at PSV and seems to be lacking since his time at MUFC. He also needs to add that additional dimension of going out to the wing for crossing if need be or either make space for Shaw to advance for crossing. He has been very predictable for most of the teams until now as English teams are smart enough, it would be difficult for him to survive if he continues on the same path.

Please add that flair and guile to the play as it looks very unattractive to watch MUFC just keep the ball to themselves and not develop proper attacks. Add the Threat of pacy counter attacks with Memphis and now Martial available to us who both are blessed with blistering pace. We may loose a ball or two but that would make us a threat on counter attacks thus prevent other teams to dominate us on attacking line.

Looking forward to an attractive football season for MUFC and Hope my suggestions are considered.

To Mr. Ed Woodward,

You have been one of the best minds in the country when it comes to cracking Sponsorship and Financial deals but one of the most laughed at when it comes to cracking Player deals.

All the Transfer windows have been a disaster as we have been running after almost all the world class players and loosing out on them. Luckily a few have been Good ones especially the Darmian and Schweinsteiger Deals and also Schniederlin deal has been somewhat favourable but apart from that all others have been a disaster like for Instance Mata & Di Maria, we have overpaid for the players who were actually unwanted by their clubs and a Good sporting Director would have bought them for much cheaper. And Di Maria was sold at a loss of 15M GBP which again sounds a failure.

A request/suggestion as a Fan would be to Please Hire a Good Sporting Director with Market Contacts and experience of buying world class players and let him handle the negotiations of buying players in the market. It would mean that Manchester United would be back to conducting some shrude piece of businesses and buy Good players at a Bargain then buying bargain players at exuberantly higher prices.

If that is not considerable then Please shortlist players we need to go after and their cheaper alternatives and if the deal for the player we want is not cracking then buy the alternate player quickly so that we do not sound desperate and get the players we want at fair prices either in the current window or the next.

Eg. If Mane or Bale weren't available we could have gone for Lavezzi who is a good enough player as a temporary solution and would have been much more easily available than a desperate buy for Martial. Similarly Charlie Austin would have been a quick fix to our striking woes and would have been more easily available if we had started the conversation a little earlier.

In Short we as fans are getting frustrated day by day at being the laughing stock for Fans from other clubs. We have been patient for 2 seasons and cannot drag the same story into the 3rd season after spending more than 200 Million GBP on buying players.

Request you to please get our respect back in front of other fans.

Regards,
A Frustrated but still Loyal MUFC Fan.
